Rip my jeans off; not my heart out

The average attention span of people who read blogs is about 30 seconds, so bloggers who begin entries with, 'This morning I was sitting here thinking,' have already lost them. One that caught my eye, as it flashed by on Alphainventions.com, went something like, 'Rip my jeans off; not my heart out.' (I modified it slightly). Well, that taught me a lesson anyway: I've got to stop writing entries that begin, 'I was' and start writing more that begin with, 'Rip my...!' I know it makes sense; you know it makes sense. We've just got to do more of it.

  1. So true, blog reader's don't have much of a retention span....they wander off about other....what was I talking about ;)

Your headline grabs enough attention. Then the pictures reel the reader in, in my opinion

    Great blog.

  2. I go along with that. By the time the blog has loaded they are getting ready to leave. That line should pull them back, though.

  5. That's a really good point! I need to be more mindful of that.

It's hard for me to tell if my stories are too long for a blog.

  7. My unorthodox approach, if you may call it - in order to improve the attention span...if at all it is a problem among bloggers is to drive in countries not having any traffic sense...then we got to be attentive! I don't think is a good suggestion for bloggers, anyway you have brought out something important to reflect...
