The theme of this week's Corner view is Contrasts. See how many you can spot between these two scenes on other sides of the world. What, for you, is the most obvious one?
Picture A: Street scene, Daejeon, South Korea
Picture B : Street scene, Montevideo, Uruguay

The second one is the most obvious (if my understanding of obvious is correct ;)) Both are amazing and beautiful
ReplyDelete(and not spooky at all !!! - you are right for the "spooky"... this is one of the contrasts I wanted to suggest... because the "girls" of my photo are made for children ;))
Yes very different places indeed. Signs, Letters, colors...all so different, yet go together in their own respectable homes.
ReplyDeleteOne has so much bombardment with advertising, the other is more subtle, and yet beckons me to come on in.
ReplyDeleteHello, I recently discovered your blog and I am enjoying it very much!
ReplyDeleteFor me the contrast is the level of energy. The first photo is of a city that literally pulses with electricity. It looks like a 24/7 city, active all the time. The second photo looks like a very tranquil place, a cafe that is the perfect place to relax.
beautiful photos!
ReplyDeletebiggest contrast: the color palette. one screaming out load in neon, the other quiet, old-world beauty.
same thing, friends/colleagues having a snack, right? I "do" like what you are proposing here, though; what's obvious for some is completely alien for others.
ReplyDeletewell, you just made me want to go visit both places so hey, off to do some extra time and save some cash. ;)
there are just too many. can i just say that i love them both? besos!
ReplyDeleteThe two pictures themselves seem to in contrast. I love the second picture even thought the first is rather more eye catching!
ReplyDeletebeautiful, Ian!
ReplyDeleteB could also be in Paris a is a whole new world for me, very contrasting with my side of the world
want to go have a coffee in the second one whereas i would like to run screaming from the first. why are those women in the middle of the street?
ReplyDeleteThe inside/outside factor and then of course the colors. Based solely on these pictures, I think I'd do better in Uruguay.
ReplyDeleteMany contrasts indeed! and great photos! I like your idea to compare two images from the opposite sides of the globe.
ReplyDeleteThe roads you travel my friend are always filled with contracts. Nice photos. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI'll second Emily for the inside/outside, and for thinking I'd do better in Uraguay. This could be a psychological test for introverted vs. extroverted personalities, another contrast!
ReplyDeleteThe first photo in itself made me think of Magritte's day/night painting where its day and night in the same picture.
Fun games to play in your CV. Thanks.
i was hoping for some beautiful pictures! no disapointment!
ReplyDeletea; looks totally exotic for me
and
b; more european, maybe even utrecht, where i live...
have a nice day, ian!
The most obvious? Well, the difference between Oriental people and Latin people: Three persons together; but apart, and another group together; but close: The southamericans!
ReplyDelete'Been taken a look to your Shelfari and saw "the remains of the day" I've seen the film; but haven't read the book. Have you did it? It's different from the movie, better or worse? Thanks, and have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, Juanita, the book is much better than the film.
ReplyDeleteWouhaou !!! nice shots... I love the second one, the atmosphere of this shop... Have a great week-end Ian !
ReplyDeleteOh, I must say these are great shot! I have never been to these places...I have so many places I would like to visit. Thank you for sharing!!
